Denied
Really?!
This is my EOB for Casey’s wisdom tooth extraction. Denied. Their reasons:
“General anesthesia is covered only in conjunction with oral surgery.”
……and all this time I thought oral surgeons performed oral surgery. You learn something new every day….
“Our records indicate this tooth has been extracted.”
….then again, maybe they do….

Keeping my Eye on Something Else
Last year we were so crazy busy with sports and other activities with our kids, I was going nuts. I told Randy,
“Never again!” While we think staying active is vital, team sports were killing our family time. So we organized our own “Family Sports League.” Once a week, we get together with other families in neighborhood and play organized sports. Although the rules are slightly modified to accommodate the young and old, ;) the result is fun, fit, family time together.

I have always enjoyed baseball/softball, but my athletic ability is pretty pathetic. Connecting with the ball is not my forte. My whole life I’ve been told, “Keep your eye on the ball!”
Seriously?!!! What do they think I’ve got my eye on?!
All I can say is, I am glad my kids have their dad’s athletic ability.

Murphy’s law
I searched the house over time and time again for my camera charger. My main area of concentration was on my bedroom since that is where I typically keep all portable electronics (they are simply safer in there.) No luck. I resigned myself to ordering a new one from Amazon and was happy to see I could buy one for $11. Best part was, it had a car adapter. How cool is that? I can’t tell you how many times I have spent all the time packing for a vacation that the camera gets thrown in, last minute, with a drained battery. UGH.
Well, the anticipated day arrived and my new charger came with the UPS man. I hastily opened the package, only to find the charger was the wrong size. And I paid so little for it, it wasn’t even worth sending back.
Still determined to find my original charger, I held off on purchasing another and resumed my search.
After a few weeks of not using my favorite camera, I hopped on Amazon and found the right charger. It was only $3.99 for this one….with $5 shipping. Not too shabby. It came in the mail last week. Just days before Hailey found this:
……in my bedroom.

A Little Wisdom…
....tooth, that is.
Casey had a wisdom tooth in front of a twelve year old molar. The dentist was baffled. But that is Casey. One of a kind. Obviously it needed to be removed so his twelve year old molar could come in.
We arose early this morning with nothing to eat or drink and headed to the oral surgeon's office. Casey turned on the charm and made everyone smile- even as he was half conscious.
Everything went smoothly and a mere 30 minutes later, it was time to take him home. Still half conscious. He commented he felt like an old man and he walked like one to prove it.
On the ride home, he’d wake every few minutes to make an unintelligible comment or slap his face to try and snap out of it.
Pudding and popsicles on the menu.

Ready for Kindergarten
Tyler decided he wanted Nathan to be the first one in his class to be able to tie his shoes. So he took it upon himself to teach his little brother. It didn’t take Nathan long, and he’s got it down.

Check out how hard he’s concentrating….

Although he is the most ready any of my kids have ever been, I can hardly believe he’s going to be in school in just a few weeks….where has the time gone?

I Pay for Torture Part III
I was on the phone with a friend before it all began. I had a feeling things were going to get bad. I tried to convince myself things would be OK. She reassured me. It would be fun, she said.
Torture in it’s worst form: school shopping. I don’t enjoy shopping anyway (I know, I’m a freak of estrogen nature.) Maybe it’s the laying down the cash; maybe it’s that I can never find what I like. I just don’t love it. I have been advised to avoid Back 2 School shopping sprees, but people- I can see my kids’ toes through their shoes. It’s time. And when my son has worn the same 3 shirts and 3 pairs of shorts for the past 2 years, I think we’re overdue. And to top it off, people tell me the shopping is only going to get worse when my daughters reach teenagerdom. If that’s true, they can wear clothes fashioned from tissue paper, because it aint happenin’. Seriously. 6 1/2 hours, and the only fruits of our efforts were: 2 shirts, 2 pairs of shorts, and some socks
That’s it.
OK, so we might have gotten a few school supplies and clothes for some other kids……some people are a little pickier than others....I’ll give you a hint: his name rhymes with a department store he would never step foot in.
