The Innocence Part III

Blogging is now definitely on the list of things you can't do with a two year old in the house (thus the reason for this 3 AM post!)

I sat down last night to blog for the first time two weeks. The boys were out camping and it was just us girls. Hannah had chosen a movie I knew I couldn't stay awake through, so I took that opportunity to catch up a little. That was a mistake.

As I blogged, Hailey sat painting her toenails. Emma and Hannah were glued to the TV, and I was in the kitchen, typing away. Their movie ended, and I finished one last, quick post. During that few minutes, Emma found the pedicure supplies and helped herself. I though it was ironic that she sat painting her toes, just after I had posted about her doing that. So I grabbed my camera and snapped this little beauty:

Notice anything besides the purple toe that DOES NOT belong there?
How about now?:

Does this give you a clue?:

Uh yeah...now I'm 6 for 6. At least it's not the total whack job Hailey (courtesy of Casey) and Hannah (twice!) had. I hope she learned her lesson never to do this again. I have tried so hard for Emma to not become the victim/perpetrator of this heinous act. I have gone so far as to never 'trim' her hair with her knowing what's going on. The scissors are always kept out of view, and it's never been referred to as a hair 'cut'. Alas, it was not meant to be. The scissors left in the box of grooming supplies proved too tempting for this innocent one.

She looks good in a mullet, no?

Confused

The weather around here certainly has some confused. One day it's 74 degrees. The next, it's snowing.

Emma doesn't know what to do. Should we go swimming, or should we build a snowman?

The Innocence Part II

Added to the list of unapproved activities if you are a mom of a two- year old: GETTING SICK.

If you do dare to take a mommy sick day, expect the two year old to find the box of Sharpies that is hidden well out of her reach.

Don't you think every white vinyl railing needs a little somethin'?

It's kind of hard to see, but yes, my garage is now multi-colored.

Once again, how can I get mad at my little Picasso?

Check-Up

Emma had her 2 year old well child check-up yesterday. She is not quite 21 pounds yet, and her BMI is way low. Other than her weight- she did great! She didn't even cry when she got her HepA shot. She just said, "Owie." and then got back to business trying to unwrap her DumDum. The doctor was impressed and amused at her fun personality.

We have an appointment at the lab tomorrow to have a Celiac and Sweat Test done. I'm pretty sure she doesn't have Cystic Fibrosis, but the Celiac is a real possiblilty. I have a brother and a sister with it. And a couple years ago, Tyler was borderline. Which means he could develop it at any time. He will be re-tested tomorrow, along with Emma.

Wish us luck. We all really enjoy our gluten, and we eat too much pasta to go gluten-free!

It's FFY

Are we the only ones that occasionally have FFY night? You know, Fend For Yourself? In other words- find whatever you want for dinner. These are usually our 'left-over' nights- but sometimes there isn't enough to go around, so I allow corn dogs and PBJ.

Well, the other night, Emma did just that. I guess she was tired of waiting for me to understand what she wanted and she fended for herself:

OK, so she didn't make the sloppy joes, but she did get her own bun and scooped the slop onto it. She came down stairs with sandwich in hand. At first I thought someone else had made it for her...but then I realized everyone else had been in the family room with me the whole time. And today, she poured her own cereal.

Now if she could just learn to do the dishes!
